1970's MG FP Midget/Spridget Race Car For Sale:
Won FP Runnoffs in 1982 (according to log book # 55208). Campaigned in the late 70's and early
80's by Sasser and Criss who set many track records and won most races in this car. Later sold
off and not raced much other than track days and solo. Car started with 1275 engine, but at some
point converted to 1500 (spitfire) running gear. I purchased the car in early '01 and have since
gone through all systems. Car has new rear disc kit, new MSD ignition with Rev Limiter and Petronics,
Engine(1500) is only a few sessions old with vanderval bearings, cosworth flatop pistons, shaved and
ported head, Roller Rockers, along with other mods. Car has new Winners Circle rear axles, 1 Yr old
seat belts, and we rebuilt trans after last session (November). Car has new Halon fire system and 3
year old fuel cell.
Currently has KEIN side draft carbs (really makes this engine stand up and sing!). Car has been run
consistantly at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit past 2 years in their regional COMMA series (10 races
per year) in the GT3 class. Car is better than me. I generally run in the 1:31 range but the car has
much more for a better driver. I have taken 2nd and 3rd in Class, being generally outrun only by this
guy in an RX-7. But again, I am not that great a driver.
Carrera coilovers on rear with 3 link and watts link. Carreras on front with BHP upper control arm
conversion and adjustable lower spring perches. Tilton cockpit adjustable bias bar and pedals.
Titton/Girling brake and clutch cylinders. Accusump, large custom aluminum radiator, oil cooler, dual
electric fuel pumps, and all stainless braided hoses.
Car comes with a small single axle trailer. The trailer is not too pretty, but very functional. Trailer
has new axle, brakes, tires, wheels, and springs.
Car comes with loads of spares including mounted rains, 2 extra sets of goodyear slicks (medium and soft)
with plenty of time left in them. Two extra 1500 engine blocks (stock, never used in racing). Extra
crank and cam, one stock head, and one highly modified head which includes a very expensive set of PRI
stainless lightweight high flow valves with high rev springs. This valve set cost me $750, and has not
been used yet (just haven't gotten around to it yet). Also a whole bunch of other stuff which I just
haven't got the time to mention here like new sets of Hawk Black brake pads in the box, plenty of misc
stuff, some new, some used.
Car does NOT have a current SCCA Log book or Tech. Would require some changes to be SCCA Legal. I am
not currently up on all the F or H specs so I will just leave that for the buyer to figure out.
Car also comes with a book with a great deal of documentation from me and previous owners.
You can have it all for the low price of $5800. (KEIN carbs alone are worth $1100! to the DSR guys).
Reason I am selling.....I just bought a Toyota World Sports Racer.
This has been a really fun car to race and tinker with, but I really need the garage room and I'm ready
to move on the the next toy.
