  • Auction Status.

We have been on the "Rough Road" in bringing the MotorSport Auctions up and running. The hold-up now is getting through all of the "Red Tape". There are 3 issues that still need resolved, and we are working on them.

I know that you have heard this before, but the auctions will be here shortly. It is expected to be running in early July. We thank you for your patience, during these delays.

  • Race Teams and Lug Nuts Raise Money for Children's Charities.

Using discarded and donated lug nuts, RACECARNUTS.COM produces limited edition collectors displays which are sold at auction to benefit children of low-income and distressed families and other childrens charity causes.

The lug nuts are collected following the races and cataloged by car team and driver. The displays are sold on the auction website yardsale-net.com or can be ordered directly on the RACECARNUTS.COM website.

The displays, in plastic frames, are 11 x 14 inches in size and are full color with the lug nuts mounted in a wheel pattern. Information about the team's performance at the race is included on the graphic, as well as the race date, name of race, and the track. The display also has a photo of both the car and driver.

Each display is custom made and are numbered limited sets. In many cases, as few as one set is made based on availability of lug nuts. Some teams save them for practice tires, but some never reuse the lug nuts and leave them in the pits for RACECARNUTS to collect. Great effort is taken to assure that the lug nuts are from the cars identified as the RACECARNUTS.COM "Squirrels" gather them up after the races.

    Note:
We had the pleasure of meeting with, and talking to, the great folks at Racecarnuts.com at a recent Fund Raiser at Team SABCO in Charlotte. 100% of the monies that they collect are distributed to needing Children's Charities.

This is a great project but they need a lot of help in trying to get the word out to the millions of NASCAR fans. "This has been our biggest obstacle thus far, but slowly the word is spreading." reports Herb Boeckenhaupt. He further states that "Next year, we are looking to more involve Busch, ARCA, ASA, HOOTERS and regional racing series teams in the project. If we are able to get some financial sponsors, we will have a more formal approach to the enter concept vs. the ad hoc out-of-pocket efforts we now have."

This is your opportunity to have a great conversation piece setting in your family room, and at the same time, help the children who need your support.

  • Evernham's Next All Star?

Nineteen-year-old "racing phenom" Casey Atwood signed a deal recently to drive for Ray Evernham's new Dodge Winston Cup team beginning next season, according to Larry Woody of the Nashville TENNESSEAN, who writes the deal "potentially could make [Atwood] the richest professional athlete ever to come out of Nashville." Atwood, who possesses a "combination of talent and charisma," will continue to race in the Busch Grand National Series this season (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 5/26). Meanwhile, Dodge Motorsports' Winston Cup merchandise, including clothing, flags, key chains, magnets, license plates and decals, went on sale recently. The merchandise is being sold at Winston Cup events and online, and will soon be sold in NASCAR retail stores and at Dodge dealerships throughout the U.S. (REUTERS, 5/25).

  • Gordon Inks NASCAR's Biggest Deal, but Will Yates Do Better?

DuPont has "re-upped" through 2005 its primary sponsorship pact of the Hendrick Motorsports-owned No. 24 Chevrolet driven by Jeff Gordon, according to Barry Svrluga of the Raleigh NEWS & OBSERVER, who reports that the extension makes the DuPont/Gordon partnership the "most lucrative sponsorship deal in NASCAR." Sources "in the Winston Cup garage estimate" the deal at about $15M annually, and Gordon added, "I would guarantee you it's the biggest. I'm not saying it will be forever. But certainly, with what's going on right now, it is." Svrluga writes that UPS "appears ready to spend" $16M "or more" to sponsor a race team next season, and Robert Yates, Owner of the Dale Jarrett-driven No. 88 Ford, said that he "has talked with UPS" (Raleigh NEWS & OBSERVER, 5/25). Sothebys.amazon.com is offering Gordon's No. 24 Chevy for auction, as well as a special edition 2000 Jeff Gordon Signature Series Monte Carlo and other memorabilia. Proceeds will benefit The Marrow Foundation's Hendrick Marrow Program.

  • Viagra on With Mark Martin.

Pfizer/Viagra "will be the primary sponsor" of the Roush Racing-owned No. 6 Winston Cup Ford driven by Mark Martin next year, according to Michael Carvell of the ATLANTA CONSTITUTION. The deal is "reportedly worth" $60M over five years. Roush Racing President Geoff Smith said Valvoline, Martin's current sponsor, is "more likely to be an associate sponsor" next year (ATL. CONSTITUTION, 5/31).

  • Monthly Featured Advertisements Now Accepting Visa/MasterCard

In an attempt to boost the useage of the Monthly Featured Advertisement, we have re-vamped the sign-up process. In the past, you had to fill out a form by hand and mail us a check in order to have your advertisement become the featured ad. We NOW offer this benefit via Credit Card.

We know that there is some concern about paying by credit card on the Internet, and we also know that every site on the Internet claims that their site is safe and secure.

Well.... The Racers Network IS Truely SAFE and SECURE. We purchased software that performs online real-time processing using the SSL (Secure Socket) technology. Your card is checked for authenticity while you are in the secure section. The Card Processing company e-Mails you a receipt of your transaction (Minus your credit card number). They send us a copy of the e-Mail (Minus your credit card number) so that we know what Category and Division you purchased. And the funds are deposited into our bank account (Minus your Credit Card number) so that even an employee at our bank does not have access to your number.

    Now.... That's SAFE and SECURE.

The cost of this software was considerable, but your safety and well being are our major concern.

We hope that with an on-line form to fill out and accepting credit cards will attract more users of this great benefit. Remember.....
